Open to all with no experience required

Book anywhere from one to five weeks. We recommend booking two weeks minimum for a well rounded experience.

If you are camping with us, your expected arrival day is Sunday. Work will start on the Monday.

Bamburgh Research Project is open to people aged 12 and over. People under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We welcome all experience levels, from newcomers to the subject through to professionals. We aim to accommodate special needs or requests whenever possible, but do get in touch via email if you have any questions.

We aim to deliver a well rounded archaeological field experience, offering placements to those who wish to gain ‘hands on’ practical knowledge of archaeological techniques. Basic skills are covered in the first two weeks of any stay and for participants who stay longer we aim to develop an in-depth understanding of field skills, including excavation, survey, finds processing, recording techniques and post excavation processes. Our tuition fee is £300 per week.

The Booking Process

  1. Read the Field School page and Accommodation page
  2. Fill out the booking form
  3. You will then receive an email from the BRP staff
  4. Pay the deposit to secure your place
  5. Any remaining balance needs to be paid by June 11th

The link to the booking form below will allow you to reserve your spot during the archaeological season. After submitting your application you should hear from us shortly. If we are able to book you for the weeks you request we with then ask for a deposit. Without this deposit we cannot guarantee your place during the season.

Late bookings are sometimes possible so please call or email us directly if the field school is already underway.

This £300 deposit is the payment for your first week. There are multiple options for payments:

  • Paypal (Available to all students, transaction fee of 5%)
  • Bank Transfer
  • International Draft in Sterling
  • Cheque (UK students only)

We are happy to provide receipts for payments received.

Completing Your Payment:

Bookings must be paid in full by June 11th, 2017. Failure to make advance payment in full will result in the loss of your deposit, unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you are unable to make your final payment by the due date please email Cole to discuss arrangements. There are no automatic refunds made against spaces booked but not taken. If you have concerns, please contact us directly as soon as possible.
