Excavation and Post-Excavation or Post-Excavation only

- Week 2: September 12th- September 18th
- Week 3: September 19th- September 25th
- Week 4: additional week TBC
Book anywhere from one to five weeks. However, we recommend booking two weeks minimum for a well-rounded experience. Our tuition fee is £290 per-week, which will cover all on-site excavation and post-excavation activities.
BRP is open to anyone aged 18 and over.
We welcome all experience levels and we aim to accommodate everyone where possible. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions about access, facilities, etc.
Planning Your Visit
Your tuition fee covers 6 days of training. The BRP training week runs Sunday-Thursday, Friday is a collective day off for staff and students to allow time for excursions in the local area or some R and R, and concludes on a Saturday (unless you need to leave early on your last day with the project). The final week we will work Sunday-Friday with no day off, as BRP staff will need to close down the site on the Saturday.
- Saturday- Arrival Day
- Sunday – Induction Day
- Monday – Work Day
- Tuesday – Work Day
- Wednesday – Work Day
- Thursday – Work Day
- Friday – Project Day Off
- Saturday – Work Day/Departure day
We recommend that students arrive at their accommodation on the Saturday, so they are ready for the onsite induction on the Sunday.
Accommodation must be booked separately. There are many options for accommodation in the area to suit every budget and we are happy to offer suggestions. However, we do encourage all participants to stay in close proximity to BRP staff, as this allows staff and students the opportunity to get to know one another in a social setting and there are friendly faces around should you need a helping hand. This year our staff will be staying at Budle Bay Campsite.
You are welcome to book a space in the bunkhouse or camp. Camping is not likely to fill up but there are only 7 bunkhouse spaces (mixed-sex) available each week, so if this is your preferred option we suggest you book with us ASAP. All students will have full access to the kitchen in the bunkhouse. If you would like assistance finding holiday cottages etc. please do not hesitate to contact us.
The Booking Process
- Read the Field School page and the FAQ page
- Decide if you will be staying at the campsite or not

- Cheque (UK students only)
Completing Your Payment:
Bookings must be paid in full by August 20th, 2021. Failure to make advance payment in full will result in the loss of your deposit, unless there are exceptional circumstances (BRP discretion). If you are unable to make your final payment by the due date please email Graeme (see below) to discuss arrangements. There are no automatic refunds made against spaces booked but not taken.
All payment made will be fully refunded if Covid 19 forces postponement or cancellation.
