What is a Kaim?

Bradford Kaim is named after a geographical feature, a kaim, or kame. This is a landscape feature that was formed at the end of the last Ice Age, some 10,000 years ago. The Bradford Kaim is a long, sinuous, mound that extends for more than a kilometre, north to south, crossing the B1341 road.

Greenwood's Map of 1828 depicts the extent of the kaim at Bradford as an intermittent line of uplands.
